Pre-London
There's a lot of small things that seperates London and Amsterdam. They're 2 capitals close to each other but they have a very different way of life.

When I was in London last summer the thing I noticed around the second day was that London is a bit like a well oiled machine. Everyone sits quietly in the subway cars, the lines on the escalator are always proper so that others can pass by and everyone minds their own business. Amsterdam seems much more like a big mess of everyone minding their own business. There's not much keeping to lines like the Brits do. British people LOVE lines.

The other big thing I noticed was the pub life of Britain. Since pubs have to close early, at 5 when the workers finish their job the pubs are filled to the brim. A lot of Brits go straight to the pub from work and order some quick pubfood there. Since in Amsterdam/The Netherlands the times are a lot looser there's a lot more time between work and going to the pub. It's a bit more relaxed, I'd say.
